Fundraising Boost

The long-term sustainability of our partners is a key component of the work we have done together over many years. To help them prepare for success after the end of MAVA’s funding in 2022, we are offering some support to help strengthen their fundraising capacities – a key component for organisational resilience and sustainability.

Acumen Academy Nonprofit Fundraising Essentials

To guide organisations through the main steps of the development/strengthening of a fundraising strategy, MAVA has partnered with Acumen Academy to develop an online course, ‘Nonprofit Fundraising Essentials: Embrace Entrepreneurial and Strategic Approaches to Fundraise More Effectively’.

The course is a 6-week learning experience (4 hours/week) and is available in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish. It is free for everyone (partners and non-partners).

Course sessions are organised regularly. The next sessions will start on 12 October 2021 (register window June 23 – October 26).

More information on the course and registration here.

You can watch below a 2 min preview video.

“This course has helped me to see fundraising with different eyes. I have been able to learn from others’ experiences and that has given me the confidence I need to keep on working to hit the fundraising targets that we have as an organisation. Each module has been super easy to read and digest, case studies really help to learn good practices from others that are successful in this area.” – 2020 course participant

“I found it very well structured and the fact that all material was posted since the beginning helped me organise my time better and to be able to participate in the course. The complementary material was also good. All together it was indeed very useful for me.” – Alba Carreras, Nature Trust Alliance

I.G. Advisors Relationship-based Fundraising Field Guide

Complementary to Acumen Academy fundraising course in many aspects, the Field Guide is a practical resource aimed at organisations of varying types and sizes around the world. I.G. Advisors designed it to help you create a fundraising strategy that leverages and maximises your organisation’s existing resources, and provides general guidance to successfully grow and diversify your income. Download the Field Guide here.

So as to help you use both resources complementarily, we developed a document highlighting some of the key topics and tools offered by each. Click on the image to learn more!

Calls for proposals

We have given the opportunity to MAVA partners to strengthen and adapt their fundraising via two calls for proposals in 2020 and 2021. The calls came as a second step, for partners who already had the basis of their fundraising plan in place, developed through the Acumen course or by other means. Over 20 organisations are currently benefitting from a grant to implement their fundraising strategy.

This support represents an overall budget of 1,2 million CHF.
