The linear model of economic production cannot create prosperity for a growing world population without severe negative impact on natural systems.

Circular economy offers an alternative by reducing raw material input and waste to a minimum through designing products for circularity – reuse, repurpose, recycle.

Only a cross-sectoral systemic approach can drive significant and lasting change.

We aim to create circular economy models that address city level challenges, and encourage EU and national legislation that promotes their replication by:

  • increasing city engagement with circular economy
  • creating a circular material management platform
  • advocating an ambitious EU Circular Economy package and associated policies

"Today’s linear ‘take-make-dispose’ economy is hugely wasteful. By rethinking industrial systems, we can secure massive benefits – but only if we collaborate. No one company, manufacturer or government can achieve circularity alone."
