New report shows lack of measures for biodiversity in national recovery and resilience plans

A new report comprising assessments of ten countries from Central and Eastern Europe, prepared in coalition by EuroNatur and Bankwatch, shows that nature has been completely neglected in these countries’ national recovery plans, currently being assessed by the European Commission.

The report underlines an important need of investments in nature conservation in these countries and highlights concerns about an almost complete lack of measures in favour of biodiversity within the national recovery and resilience plans.

This report was published within the frame of the call for proposal MAVA launched in October 2020 to support activities that strengthen nature conservation in the immediate recovery phase and the mid-term (re)construction phase of the COVID crisis.

Other country assessments will be published soon as well as an EU overview.
