MOOC Environment and natural resources economy and management: over 7’000 registered!

Given the major challenges facing our planet today, it is becoming increasingly essential to integrate environmental issues into the countries’ economic and social development processes. This requires knowledge and skills to be able to analyse and assess the impact of economic activities on the environment. In conjunction with environmental economics, the analysis of decision-making processes in the relevant economic sectors can help to establish policies and institutions aiming at tackling these negative environmental behaviours.

To contribute to the dissemination of these best practices, the Institut de la Francophonie pour le développement durable and Senghor University, with the support of MAVA, are offering an online training course (MOOC) in French entitled “Économie et gestion de l’environnement et des ressources naturelles“. The objective of the training is to shed light on these practices in various contexts. It aims to capture key concepts with examples of applications to generate ideas for responses to major environmental challenges caused by human activities.

With more than 7,000 people attending the course so far (it was initially estimated that 1,000 people might register), this MOOC is a real success. And the numbers are growing. This enthusiasm demonstrates the keen interest and need to strengthen the capacities of francophone actors in the economic management of the environment. Registration is still open here  !
