First UK Plastics Pact Launched

The Plastics Pact – A unique plateform that brings together businesses, governments, innovators, NGOs and citizens at UK level to build a plastics system that works.

The platform was launched on 26 April in the UK as part of the New Plastics Economy Initiative by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation together with WRAP. It aims at encouraging a circular economy for plastics in the UK by delivering ambitious targets for change by 2025:

⇒ Eliminate unnecessary and problematic single-use plastic packaging through redesign and innovation

⇒ Ensure all plastic packaging is reusable, recyclable, or compostable

⇒ Increase the collection and recycling of plastic packaging

⇒ Increase recycled content in plastic packaging

Other countries are set to follow and, over time, the organisations involved in each pact will come together to form a Plastics Pact network that will share knowledge and best practices.

Together with other funders, MAVA is supporting the New Plastics Economy Initiative within the frame of its action plan on redesigning plastics – more info here.
