Finalists of pioneer Swiss Circular Economy Incubator start their work

A pioneering Circular Economy Incubator has been set up by four Impact Hubs in Switzerland (Bern, Geneva, Lausanne and Zurich) and sanu durabilitas, with the support of MAVA. It enables individuals and start-ups to prototype and develop innovative solutions which contribute to accelerate the transition towards Circular Economy in Switzerland.

A jury from the four Impact Hubs recently identified the 26 projects that will take part in the Incubator programme that lasts from January until April 2019. During these four months, the participants will benefit from one-to-one mentoring sessions with experienced coaches, supporting them in their circular business development. Entrepreneurial & Circular Masterclasses will help the startups to shape their ideas and business models in a financially viable and impact maximizing way. Regular startup sharing sessions at the participating Impact Hubs will enable experience, challenges and needs exchanges along the journey and create peer-learning/support. Two national circular camps – one in February in Zurich, one in April in Geneva – will be held, giving the startups the opportunity to meet the Swiss circular startup ecosystem. Furthermore, the participants will benefit from access to a circular expert pool for specific support needs.

Today, effective conservation relies on integrated initiatives that reconcile environmental, social and economic objectives. MAVA believes strongly in investing in innovation by supporting individuals to learn and apply an entrepreneurial approach. This is reflected in the activities we support in Switzerland to advance a resource efficient and circular economy and more broadly to nurture young talent and innovation in the conservation sector.
